FROM THE DR. STEPHEN DAVIDSON COLLECTION A lovely toned GEM example of the first Denver mint nickel struck. Bold satiny luster glows boldly all over the surfaces, with sweeping bands of cartwheel brilliance. The peripheries are framed by a beautiful rainbow toning fading into a warm gold and nickel silver in the centers. The devices are sharply struck and the surfaces are virtually free of any distracting marks, ticks, or flecks of any kind (a strong glass will reveal a couple of unobtrusive ticks and a toning fleck or two). The album toned surfaces are wonderfully eye appealing. PCGS 60, NGC 21. The last 10 examples have sold in the $1,920 to $2,700 range, with the average close to $2,400. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $3,000. Just 17 are graded finer, and few have such a great look. Bid accordingly. Cert. Number 25662637 PCGS # 3874
