- GREAT BRITAIN. Gold Coronation Medal, 1838. PCGS SP-61 Secure Holder.
BHM-1801; Eimer-1315. By Pistrucci. Bust of Queen Victoria left, draped wearing a bandeau, legend "D.G. BRITANIARUM REGINA F.D."; Reverse: Victoria being presented a crown by Britannia, Hibernia, and Scotia, legend "ERIMUS TIBI NOBILE REGNUM" with "INAUGURATA DIE JUNII XXVIII MDCCCXXXVIII" in exergue. Bold strike with high relief portrait lustrous and quite attractive despite some hairlines. From a mintage of 1,369 pieces.
Estimate: $3,000 - $4,000.
Provenance: A similarly graded example, NGC-MS 61, from our NYINC 2017 auction, lot# 2476 hammered at $6,250.
