- RUSSIA. Pskov. Denga, ND (ca. 1510). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
0.76 gms. Spassky-66:10. Obverse: crowned bust of a prince with sword; reverse: panther walking right, from the city arms. Issued by the semi-independent city-state of Pskov, wedged between the lands of the Teutonic Order and the republic of Novgorod. The city was conquered in 1510 by Vasili III Ivanovich and added to his state of Muscovy. An attractive example of this early Russian type with a boldly detailed face on the portrait and panther on the reverse.
