- FRANCE. First Manned Balloon Flights Bronze Medal, "1784" (ca. 1880). Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Gold Shield. Malpas-6. By A. Pajou. Obverse: Manned hot air (Montgolfier) and hydrogen (Charliere) balloons in flight; legend and date in five lines in exergue; Reverse: Legend in nine lines within starred border. Edge: > CUIVRE. A later 19th-century restrike of this popular and rather RARE aviation medal, this type celebrates the first manned balloon flights for the two different models. Pleasing reddish-brown surfaces.
