详细说明: Note: this coin was just in our November Premier Sessions sale. The owner defaulted (stuff happens). It sold for $3,960-- Here is a RARE second chance! A very pleasing KEY DATE early half dollar. Sharply struck devices with bold definition remain despite the light wear. Deep brown-slate toning provides eye appeal to both sides. The reverse displays a few ancient, light scuffs that are mostly hidden by the moderate totally original toning that is evenly spread around. Over the years, the estimates have ranged between 1,200 and 1,500 struck on the new steam press, which allowed for the half dollar to be struck with a reeded edge produced in a close collar, rather than the lettered edges produced by the Castasing machine. PCGS 37, NGC 33, CAC 9. The only PCGS/CAC coin did not have the eye appeal of this coin and sold for $3,825 in a June 2016 auction; the only other CAC coins were two NGC coins, the most recent that sold $5,640 in the 2016 ANA auction. A non-CAC PCGS coin sold for $3,672 in March 2017 and the current CU value is $4,350. This is the first of the short lived Reeded Edge type, an quite scarce and important for collectors, and always in demand regardless of quality--high quality coins like this are very few and far between don't let this opportunity pass you by!
