- FROM THE GERALD R. FORSYTHE COLLECTION This is a truly high end and high grade GEM example, tied for FINEST graded of this very scarce issue. The Closed 3 variety was produced only early on in the year, and due to the 3 looking like an 8, the logotype was changed over to the open 3. As one of the FINEST graded, it is clear that this coin is truly of exceptional quality and in a fantastic state of preservation. A thick frosty, nickel-silver luster blooms all over. The devices are sharply impressed from a precision blow from the dies. The surfaces on both sides are clean and free of any serious marks of any kind, and the quality withstands the most intense scrutiny with a strong glass. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 9, NGC 2, CAC 3. There are just two in MS66+ and NONE FINER at PCGS. The other coin sold for $8,519 in our December 2019 Regency Auction and the current PCGS price Guide value is listed at $11,000. This marvelous GEM is worthy of the FINEST of sets. Good luck. Cert.
