GUATEMALA. Quetzal, 1925. Philadelphia Mint. PCGS AU-53 Gold Shield. KM-242. A popular one year type coin, this issue features on its obverse and reverse the bird which lent its name to the nation's monetary unit. SCARCELY encountered so attractive and problem free, the vast majority of the initial mintage was subsequently melted down, leaving few survivors in this state of preservation.
