- Dusky golden-gray with lilac and dove-gray highlights in the protected areas. From a modest mintage for the issue of 60,000 pieces; another 994,000 examples of the date were produced after the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the reverse design. This specimen is none the worse for wear and decidedly mark-free despite its lengthy stay in circulation. Though as scarce as its mintage implies, the issue is not prohibitively rare and collectors often choose pleasing examples of the date when available no matter the grade.
