1804 Draped Bust Cent. S-266, the only known dies. Rarity-2. Noyes Die State C. VG-8 (PCGS). Not only one of the key dates of the Draped Bust cent design type, the 1804 is a key to the entire denomination, 1793-1857. The surfaces are deep rose-brown on the obverse and deep olive-brown on the reverse, and despite the well-worn appearance there are few marks of any consequence to be seen. From a late die state on both sides, with a heavy obverse cud that joins the tops of RTY to the rim, while another rim cud on the reverse joins the rim to MERIC. Finer overall than the grade implies.
