- Attractively Toned "Birds over Junk" Dollar
(t) CHINA. Dollar, Year 21 (1932). Shanghai Mint. NGC MS-62.
L&M-108; K-622; KM-Y-344; WS-0144. "Birds over junk" variety. Perhaps the most recognizable RARITY from the Republican-era. The "Birds over junk" was the first year of circulating issues with the junk boat reverse on a crown. The present specimen dazzles with satin like luster under a veneer of charcoal patina. Just a few marks keep this piece from full Choice status, however this cataloger would expected spirted attention and bidding for this Dollar.
Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000.
