WOW! What a STUNNING Proof Barber quarter! Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to offer this beautiful Proof Barber quarter! This coin looks like it was broken fresh out of a 2011 proof set, not a survivor of 109 years in this FLAWLESS, essentially perfect grade. Clearly worthy of its lofty designation, this coin is not just one of the finest 1911 quarters, but one of the FINEST of all Proof Barber quarters, 1892-1915! AMAZING in every way! This coin is a reflective headlight! Deep, clear, bold, reflective mirrors shine as black in the light, with the fully frosted devices standing out in their white, silver frostiness. The mirrors look like they were just cut from a polished chrome bumper and the reliefs stand out with a dramatic effect. The cameo contrast is exceptionally bold for the date, and does border on a DCAM designation. Using a strong glass we can find not a single mark, line, fleck, or spot that takes away from the simply awe inspiring visual allure. Only 543 Proofs were struck, and this one is clearly tied for FINEST KNOWN! PCGS 0, NGC 3. Prior to this one selling in our September 2018 Regency Auction for $29,375, the last one sold in May 2005; may as well been longer! Even back then, this was a $20,000 coin. Other NGC PR69 CAM APRs are: an 1894 that sold for $46,000 in April 2008; an 1895 that sold in January 2005 for $36,800; an 1896 that sold for $23,500 in June 2014; 1898 that sold for $25,300 in January 2005; a 1907 that sold for $37,600 in January 2017; a 1908 that sold for $32,200 in April 2011; and a 1910 that brought $28,800 in June 2018.
