Dragon & Phoenix 1,500 Yuan CHINA. 1,500 Yuan, 1990. Dragon & Phoenix Series. PCGS PROOF-67 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder. Fr-B90; KM-321. VERY RARElarge format coin from a mintage of only 250 pieces of which this is stamped with serial number #071. The largest denomination struck for the appealing Dragon and Phoenix series with the attractive design exquisitely rendered on such a large piece. Every feather and scale of the obverse is fully struck up and nicely detailed. The frosted devices on both obverse and reverse are fully intact with no breaks or flecks. The hard golden mirror surfaces are very pleasing and are very nearly undisturbed with only a few very light lines which can only be found under careful scrutiny under magnification. Impressive and nearly devoid of copper spots which tend to be found on gold issues of this era in modern coinage with less than five to be found. The wooden case of issue is included in the lot but it is close to falling apart. Tied with one other example as the only two graded by PCGS with six graded finer by NGC. A seldom offered piece and the key to a full set of Dragon and Phoenix coins, the chance to obtain which should not be missed. Estimate: $80,000 - $100,000. PCGS #533630.
