- 1738-X Sou Marque. Amiens Mint. Vlack-212. Rarity-6. AU-53 (PCGS). 31.9 grains. Lovely medium gray and rose-gray patina engages both sides. Centers are a bit softly defined, surfaces microgranular, although the in hand appearance is impressively smooth. Much silvering remains, as does frosty mint luster, and the detail is sharp to full toward the borders. First year of issue for sou marque coinage at Amiens, and one of the rarer dates from this coinage facility. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
