- New York--New York. 1799 New York Associate Church. Rulau-E NY 622, Breen-1172. Rarity-7. White Metal. Plain Edge. 23 mm x 17.5 mm, oval. EF-45 (PCGS). Pleasing pewter gray surfaces greet the viewer from both sides of this handsome and rare token. All design elements are boldly rendered, a bit of light carbon evident on the date side, but the in hand appearance smooth in the absence of more than a few well scattered marks. According to Russell Rulau in his Standard Catalog of United States Tokens: 1700-1900(2004 edition): "The words 'associate church' are all in lower case letters, with the Old English 'ff' standing for 'ss.' Robert Vlack refers to this piece as the earliest dated American Communion token."
