FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Like the 1883 and 1884 three cent nickels, the circulation strike mintage was tiny, only 1,000 were struck, far fewer than the Proof mintage of 3,790. As a KEY in all grades and a condition rarity at this lofty state of preservation this is a GREAT coin for any collection of three cent nickels. Brilliant, satiny mint luster radiates all over on this GEM. Both obverse and reverse are remarkably smooth and devoid of any issues of any kind. The devices are quite sharp, offering fully defined details. Totally original, this GEM is housed in a first generation PCGS slab. We don't understand why CAC did not bean this impressive MS65. PCGS 15, NGC 5. The Seattle Collector bought this coin from the February 2011 Long Beach Auction, where it sold for $17,250. While the market has come down somewhat, its great eye appeal and technical quality and freshness will propel it to a level around the current PCGS Price Guide value of $12,500. This is an important opportunity! Cert. Number 3061572 PCGS # 3753.00
