1857 Braided Hair Half Cent. C-1, B-2. Rarity-4. Proof-63 (PCGS). Deep golden tan with a goodly amount of mint orange in the protected areas of the obverse, the reverse medium chocolate brown. A pair of reverse toning spots are noted at the A in HALF and the N in CENT. A bright light source reveals a touch of bold neon blue iridescence. Proof half cents are elusive on the whole, even down to the more readily available issues such as the present date. A proof half cent from the terminal date of the denomination.<br /> <br /> <strong>Numismatic Reflections by Q.
