1812 Capped Bust Left Half Eagle. Miller-118, HBCC-3124, BD-1. Rarity-3. Wide 5 D. EF-45 (PCGS). Pleasing for the considerable luster in the fields and glorious coppery-gold toning through the stars and legends. Rather well struck and showing light evidence of circulation. There are thin adjustment marks on Liberty's face and curls at a diagonal from the planchet being slightly heavy, excess gold was filed away to bring the planchet to the correct weight prior to striking and these features are commonly seen on early gold and silver coinage from this era. About as perfect for the collector as one could hope to find in terms of surfaces and luster.
