- Tied for second highest graded at PCGS, this is a beautifully toned SUPERB GEM example, one of just 5,506 distributed. Clearly this coin sat for ages in an album or other type of holder that imparted a dramatic band of rainbow toning at the left peripheries on both obverse and reverse, before blending to original shimmering silver surfaces and dappled olive-gold. The eye appeal is truly wonderful. PCGS 44, NGC 31, CAC 17. An example with a similar toning pattern (though somewhat different palette) realized $3,600 in June 2021.
