详细说明: 1652 Oak Tree Sixpence. Noe-20, Salmon 2-B, W-400. Rarity-6. IN on Obverse. VF-30 (PCGS). This handsome mid grade sixpence is warmly and evenly toned in steel-olive and pewter gray. Obverse off center to 8 o'clock, most of the word IN and the letters MAS off the flan. This feature complicates attribution given the shared obverse of Noe-20, Noe-21 and Noe-22, as the primary differentiating feature is the various reworkings of the first letter S in MASATHVSETS. For the present example, our Noe-20 attribution is based on the shape of the right foot of the first letter A, which is also reworked (albeit less dramatically) in subsequent die states. The reverse is better centered, although the tops of virtually all peripheral letters are either flush with the border or off the flan. Those design elements that are present are generally well defined, the bottom of the tree a bit soft. Slight waviness in the planchet is as made, the centers on both sides have a few wispy marks that are easily overlooked. Definitely a pleasing Choice VF to represent this scarce Noe number of the Oak Tree sixpence. PCGS# 45360. NGC ID: 2ARJ. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
