- A TOP 100 VAM. Boldly lustrous and generally well struck, this is a very nice 1880 regardless of variety. The 8/7 overdate was discovered in 1968 by Ted Clark, and traces of the mostly effaced 7 under the second 8 can be seen within the loops. PCGS 15, NGC 3. The last one sold in the 2019 FUN auction for $960 and we sold the PFM coin in May 2018 for $1,528 (was CAC). Scarce finer and a popular variety for the specialist collector. Cert.
