- 1803 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-103, T-3. Rarity-3. Large 3, Large Reverse Stars. VF-20 (NGC). Lavender and golden shades are accented by a steel blue patina in the peripheries of this lovely example. This is the third and final marriage of this obverse die, showing a even more fatigue than displayed on the O-102 in the previous lot. The dentils are virtually missing and the clashing is much more apparent, with heavier marks at the date and Liberty's ear. In contrast, the reverse die is essentially perfect. The devices remain nicely defined and the surfaces are without any notable blemishes. Handsomely preserved and choice in every respect.
