- Tied for second HIGHEST graded at PCGS, this intensely lustrous 40-D nickel has a sharp strike with full definition throughout the design. What makes this specimen truly desirable is the fantastic rainbow toning on the obverse, which suggests long term storage in an old album; while the reverse is lightly toned with an iridescent peach-rose hue. The eye appeal is exceptional in every way. PCGS 26, NGC 4. The last two sold for $1,080 (August 2020 and December 2019). We sold the two PCGS MS68 FS examples that have gone through auction, realizing $10,575 and $21,738.
