Thick golden frost with brilliant, clean, satin smooth surfaces gleams all over this SUPERB example. The final year of issue for the gold dollar denomination struck for general circulation, these were saved in large numbers, but are highly desired as type coins and in consistent demand as such. PCGS 266, NGC 188, CAC 97. There is at least some duplication of submissions in hopes of a higher grade. The current CAC CPG value is $4,000 and the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,500. A look back at our archives, we have not sold one in a Regency Auction since Regency Auction 35 (December 2019); the most recent one sold in any auction sold for $3,606 in December 2022.
