- 1880-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-68 PL (NGC). An amazingly beautiful Superb Gem with satiny, richly frosted motifs and reflective surrounding fields. A fully brilliant appearance on both sides greets the viewer. Sharply struck and appealing in all ways. One of the most readily available dates in the Morgan dollar series across the grading spectrum, though at Superb Gem quality as offered here, "common" becomes meaningless. Indeed, no PL examples of this date has been certified finer than the present beauty by NGC. It hardly seems possible that there is room for another grade between the near-perfection offered and the textbook perfection of the MS-70 grade.
