- Undated (Circa 1860) Private Experimental Coin. Judd-C1861-17, Pollock-Unlisted. Rarity-8. White Metal. Plain Edge. MS-63 (PCGS). 31 mm. 12.3 grams. Ernest G. Chormann pattern possibly produced on Mint premises. Obv:Accurate copy of the circulating Liberty Seated coinage motif in recessed cartouche with ribbon-like border with 12 curves, letter C flanked by tiny rectangles below Liberty. Rev:Accurate copy of an eagle from the reverse of a Liberty Seated coin, with a 12-curve ribbon around. CHORMANN. F. beneath in tiny letters. This lustrous piece has highly attractive, light pewter gray surfaces. A small area of oxidation to the right of the seated Liberty is noted for accuracy. Extremely rare and possibly unique.
