- Lot 460 1856 N-13 R1 Italic 5 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved.Frosty steel brown and light olive with 20% of the obverse and 30% of the reverse showing mellowed mint red. The surfaces are lustrous and show only a few trivial marks. The notable marks are a group of tiny spots of darker toning at star 6-7 into the hair below, a small nick close off the end of the bust, a spot on the N in UNITED, and a barely visible planchet lamination on the rim over the first T in STATES. E-MDS, die state b late. Most of the lines and points at ONE CENT are gone but the strong point from the right side of the O is clear until it reaches the E below. Our grade is MS63,tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
