Wholly original and nicely preserved, this is a nearly CHOICE Mint State 93-CC. An original mintage of 60,000 was the final half eagle output at the Carson City mint, and this date is quite rare overall in any uncirculated grade. A warm satiny mint frost glows from below a rich orange-gold patina. Some stray lines are seen in the fields and the obverse hair curls show some minor softness, but this coin has no wear and no serious marks of any kind. Freshly graded from an old time holding, this coin was purchased decades ago by our consignor. PCGS 72, NGC 68. The two most recent examples realized $5,760 in March 2023 and October 2022. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,500. Rare finer, and with NO GEMS known to PCGS, this coin is worthy of a strong bid and placement in a wonderful collection of CC mint gold. Cert.
