- 1884-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-60 (NGC). A boldly lustrous example with warm golden highlights at the outer regions. Despite a mintage of 3.2 million pieces, the 1884-S is a notable rarity in all Mint State grades. The vast majority of the date saw heavy circulation, and circulated examples are fairly plentiful in the marketplace, up to and including AU quality. After that, however, as noted above, the rarity of the date increases dramatically the farther up the grading scale one goes. Don't let this one get away, for it's truly choice for the grade.
