- 1830 Matron Head Cent. N-4. Rarity-2. Large Letters. VG-10 (PCGS). A significant die state piece, the very rare late state of this variety with a sunken retained cud beneath the date. Later found with a full cud in that area. Noyes photo #28648 and tied for finest known of the die state in his census at the time of the Holmes sale. Smooth, glossy surfaces which allows for full appreciation of the die state. Comes with a nice provenance. Provenance: From the John McBride Collection.
