1794 Flowing Hair Half Dime. LM-2. Rarity-5. VF-35 (PCGS). Pleasing surfaces and quality for this scarce first year of the Flowing Hair design. The toning is just right for an early silver coin, with deeper gray fields that offset the light silver devices in the usual gunmetal-gray hues. Reasonably well struck too, with no softness on the devices seen when examined. There are scattered minor nicks from circulation, but no adjustments or deep nicks to distract the numismatist. Scarce as a die pairing and a highly collectible example of this popular issue.
