Dusted with iridescent olive-brown toning, this otherwise light orange example retains most of its original color. Satiny and smooth, an overall sharp strike rounds out an impressive list of attributes for this premium quality token. Produced by Stanton shop in Cincinnati, the obverse die of this type features the famous SPINGFIELD misspelling. Provenance: From the Myles Z. Gerson Collection. Acquired from George Fuld, December 1975. The plate token for the obverse die in the second edition of the Fuld reference on Civil War store cards.
