- 1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-15, W-13820. Rarity-4. AU-53 (PCGS). Well struck in general, the reverse is rotated a few degrees counterclockwise from normal coin alignment. Obverse impression trivially off center with the letters in POPULI flush with the border, although the detail on that side is overall bold. The reverse is better centered, yet generally a bit soft, especially at the high points. Handsome medium brown patina throughout, the reverse with intermingled sandy-gold highlights in and around the center. A tiny nick in the upper right obverse field is noted, but otherwise this is a pleasingly smooth, well defined example that would do equally well in a certified high grade type or variety set. Nelson-15 is often misattributed as the rare Nelson-8 variety, as both share the same obverse.
