详细说明: Undated (Circa 1785) Bar Copper. W-8520. VF-30 (PCGS). 81.5 grains. Soft golden-tan surfaces display a touch of microporosity under low magnification. Obverse essentially unmarked, reverse with a readily perceived indented mark across three of the bars and with a few other tiny marks present as well. A famous and enigmatic issue that has not left a paper trail across the centuries -- its origins are but conjecture today.<br /> It seems like only yesterday, but back in 1976 the ANA convention was headquartered at the Marriott Hotel on Times Square, was a focal point for activity from all over the world, and set a record attendance, reported to be over 20,000. However, back at that time there were different ways of measuring attendance, sometimes <em>daily</em> attendance, rather than the actual number of different people. That said, the event was super well attended, and our auction in conjunction with it set many records. However, how nice it would be to go back to the auction today and pay two or three the times the prices to reacquire the coins. Most choice and rare numismatic items have been wonderful investments.
