- ITALY. Papal States. Scudo d'Oro, Year XVIII (1717). Clement XI (1700-1721). NGC MS-64. Fr-202; KM-770; Muntoni-26; Berman-2364. Laudable quality for this RAREtype, displaying areas of attractive orange peel toning and a razor sharp strike that admirably details the coat-of-arms of Clement XI on one side as well as the four line inscription inside an ornate border on the other. While sales records for this type are few and far between, an ungraded example of seemingly similar quality hammered at 4,250 Euros in a December 2017 NAC auction. Estimate: $2,500 - $3,500.
