1848-O Liberty Head Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). A gorgeous olive-gold example with traces of original patina in the protected areas throughout. The surfaces are exceptionally smooth and unflawed, even under a glass, complemented by remnants of satiny mint luster surrounding the design elements. These devices are bold and uniformly pronounced, with evidence of refinishing seen around the eagle on the reverse. A truly satisfying prize for Liberty gold and New Orleans enthusiasts. The 1848-O Liberty Head eagle was struck to a quantity of 35,850 examples and remains considerably prized in today's market. Most examples are in EF and below, with AU pieces like the present scarce and perhaps only 10 known in Mint State. PCGS# 8600. NGC ID: 2634.
