- 1907 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. JD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-4. Proof-62 (NGC). Rich deep orange-gold color with a universally reflective finish that is most pronounced in the fields. Fully struck, as befits the method of manufacture, we note razor sharp detail to even the most intricate design elements. Popular for type purposes, the 1907 is not only the final Proof issue in this series, but it is also one of the more frequently encountered in numismatic circles. Scarce in an absolute sense, however, John W. Dannreuther (2018) accounts for only 100 to 120 coins extant from a mintage of 154 pieces. Provenance: From the Kohler Wisconsin Collection. PCGS# 7933.
