The 1921 is one of the early KEY issues to the series with a mintage of only 246,000. Because of the post war recession, very few were saved at the time of issue, and most went into circulation. Most examples seen are heavily circulated, with VF being about average. Among the TOP dozen examples graded at PCGS and this remarkable GEM has a SUPERB eye appeal! A very seductive pearly-satiny sheen glows with a soft brilliance on both sides, bringing out the subtleties in the pastel iridescent toning. As the GEM + quality surfaces are rotated in a light, delicate hues of sky blue, champagne-rose, and aqua come to life and are gently dusted on both sides. The strike is very sharp for the date, with essentially full details on both sides, including Liberty's hand and drapery folds. We cannot find any mark worthy of mention on either side! Even using a very high power loupe, there is nothing but perhaps a minor frost break to be found anywhere! The eye appeal is very simply STUNNING, and this visually impressive beauty will delight any advanced Walker collector. PCGS 60, NGC 32, CAC 14. There are only 7 coins graded MS65+ at PCGS with a mere four graded finer. The most recent example to sell brought $31,725 in our May 2018 Regency Auction. Even a PCGS/CAC MS65 (no Plus) recently sold for $23,400 in February 2018. The most recent MS66 CAC sold for $54,050 in the 2015 ANA auction. If you are building one of the highest ranking sets, you owe it to yourself to bid on this remarkable GEM. It will certainly elevate your set to a higher plane! Cert. Number 35411019 PCGS # 6583
