- GREAT BRITAIN. Elizabeth II Coronation Gold Medal, 1953. PCGS Genuine--Surface Plated, Unc Details Gold Shield. 58 mm; 75.34 gms. Eimer-2086a; BHM-4448. An unofficial strike to commemorate the coronation of Elizabeth II, this series was issued by Spink & Son in London, with this particular type being struck with 9 carat gold. The holder indicates a details grade due to surface plating, and the medal does exhibit a matte-like nature that lessens its true reflectivity. Nevertheless, it is a bold and well designed obverse bust, with finely detailed architecture, trees, and clouds on the reverse.
