- 1902 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Proof-64 (PCGS). CAC. A brilliant exhibition of yellow-gold radiance dazzles across both sides of this stunning Choice Proof. The razor sharp devices provide a delightful focal point against the watery, blackened fields. Just 18 coins have been certified finer by PCGS and approval from CAC emphasizes the truly superior quality. From a Proof mintage of 193 pieces. The population statistics for Proof 1902 quarter eagles, as reported by the two major certification services, are slightly larger than the Guide Bookmintage, indicating that some specimens have been certified on two or more different occasions since the mid 1980s. Early 20th-century Proof gold coins have long been popular with type collectors and specialists, and will likely always command strong premiums.
