- 1862 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. Proof-62 Cameo (PCGS). Otherwise silver-tinged surfaces are splashed with iridescent reddish-pink and russet toning here and there at the rims. Fully struck with appreciable field to device contrast that upholds the validity of the CAM designation from PCGS. Similar in overall rarity to the 1859 and 1860, the 1862 is one of the more frequently encountered Proofs of this type. On the other hand, demand from type collectors seeking a high grade No Motto Liberty Seated dollar is strong. When combined with the additional demand from series specialists looking for an alternative to a Mint State 1862 silver dollar -- which coins are rare -- Proofs of this date are understandably scarce from a market availability standpoint.
