- Very Rare Double Louis d'Or Aux Insignes FRANCE. 2 Louis d'Or, 1716-S. Reims Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). PCGS AU-58. Fr-447; KM-426.10; Gad-343a. "double louis d'or aux insignes" struck in 1716 only and a VERY RAREtype. The sole certified example at either PCGS or NGC. This one appears to be struck over a "double louis d'or au soleil" of Louis XIV (Fr-443) of indeterminate date and mint. In an old green label PCGS holder. Decently struck with soft satin luster but no obnoxious nicks or hairlines. A real prize for the advanced collector of either French gold or World gold types. Estimate: $18,000 - $22,000.
