- The mintage of 700 Proofs is in line with other dates in the series, but for some reason, very few have survived in such a high grade. Indeed, this one is just one of two PCGS graded examples in PR67 with just a single PR67+ graded higher. Both sides of this GEM have a lovely iridescent patina with rich blue, rose, gold, and violet colors on both sides. The fields show off a wonderful watery reflection on the obverse, while the reverse has a blazing, bold, and blinding reflection that taken on its own would probably warrant a CAM designation. The strike is bold, and there are no distracting marks to be found anywhere. The eye appeal is very high end and extremely rare in such a fine state of preservation. The Arrows at the date were added, as they had been two decades earlier, to signify a weight change. The coinage act of 1873 raised the silver content of the dime, quarter, and half dollar in an effort to absorb some of the silver that poured from the Comstock Lode in Nevada. PCGS 2, NGC 1. The only auction records for a PCGS PR67 is for a CAC approved coin that most recently sold in June 2014 for $27,025 and the current PCGS price Guide value is listed at $28,500. This very high end example is worthy of placement in a world class Proof Seated Dime set. Unique finer, a PR67+ that sold in August 2018 for $38,400, this SUPERB GEM presents a very important opportunity. Cert. Number 38285453 PCGS # 004770
