- 1894-O Barber Half Dollar. MS-65 PL (NGC). Lightly toned in iridescent golden-gray, this flashy Gem allows ready appreciation of a highly reflective finish in the fields. The design elements are frosty in texture, the interplay between the two providing strong cameo contrast. The 1894-O is one of the more readily obtainable New Orleans Mint Barber half dollars in Mint State, but even Choice examples are scarce, and Gems or finer are rare. There are only six grading events for this issue in the PL category at PCGS and NGC combined, the present coin sure to be eagerly received by advanced collectors of this challenging turn-of-the-century silver series.
