详细说明: 1852-O Liberty Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). The mintage of 18,000 pieces for this date and mint created yet another quite challenging coin to acquire for collectors today. PCGS reports a single example in mint condition, at the entry level grade of Mint State-60 in their <em>Population Report.</em> The surfaces are pleasing with minimal signs of handling and few bagmarks. The strike is sharp too, with most of the stars showing their radial lines and solid separation on Liberty's uppermost curls. Examination of the reverse finds matching uniform bright yellow-gold with luster in the protected areas. Furthermore this coin shows the unexplained hollow ring on the top of the second shield line group, likely some sort of centering point on the master hub, but only appears on some of the New Orleans eagles of 1851 to 1853. An important offering for the Southern gold specialist, this condition rarity should strongly be considered by any serious date and mint collector who needs a high grade example of the 1852-O eagle.
