- Lot 439 1855 N-10 R1 Italic 55 PCGS graded MS64+ Red & Brown, CAC Approved.Lustrous mint red fading to light steel brown on the devices with 30% of the obverse and more than half of the reverse showing mint color. A beautiful cent with only a few trivial marks. The notable marks are a spot on the right side of the first 5, a tiny diagonal nick in the field off the chin, and a spot of slightly darker toning in the field just right of the curl on the shoulder. A choice cent in every respect. LDS, die state e. The fields are covered with microscopic radial die flowlines and there is subtle swelling inside the top of the E in ONE. All of the stars are present and all but one of them have their radial lines. Our grade is MS63+, very close to MS64, and CC#3 of the LDS in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
