- O-101. This coin has been with our collector client since it sold in our July 2015 Regency Auction, where it was described in part: "This wonderful piece almost looks like a medal! Exceptionally clean, smooth surfaces have a light luster, while the colors are original soft dove gray/light pewter. There is some minor toning on the high points of the face. Miss Liberty and the details are extremely well struck and you don't need a glass to see the feathers on the eagle's neck. The eye appeal is wonderful!" The earlier Draped Bust half dollars (1801-03) are very scarce issues, and in light of the scarcity of the 1801 and 1802 issues, the 1803 is sometimes overlooked, but it is an extremely difficult issue to find in higher grades. PCGS 15, NGC 2, CAC 6. This coin realized $8,519 against a presale estimate of $6,500-$7,000. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $8,000 and we expect that this coin will surpass that level again. Cert. Number 32038277 PCGS # 6066
