This lovely 1873 Arrows dime is well struck with flawlessly preserved surfaces and lovely violet-red, champagne-gold, and cobalt-blue toning that adorns the mark-free surfaces. The devices are exquisitely frosted and the fields shimmer with beautiful, glassy reflectivity. It is tied with at most two others as the finest seen by NGC of this important type issue, and is a coin of strong visual appeal as well as high technical grade. No Ultra Cameo coins have been seen of this date with Arrows, so this is one of the absolute finest of the issue. A mere 800 were struck for collectors and doubtless many of those were lost or mishandled long ago. These dimes with arrows flanking the date were struck for just a short time in 1873 and 1874 to signify the most recent adjustment to the planchet weight. This is a coin for the specialist who demands the absolute and very finest available.
