GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1653. London Mint. Commonwealth. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. S-3217; KM-390.1; North-2724; im: sun. An early shilling from the Commonwealth period, this example exhibits just the slightest degree of gentle handling while still boasting some underlying luster and an alluring cabinet tone. For completeness, a minor planchet flaw is noted near the edge on the obverse. Compare to a similar shilling which we offered in early 2019 (an NGC AU-58, which realized a hammer of $2,200).
