1871 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-65 (PCGS). CAC. OGH--First Generation. This wonderfully original specimen exhibits midnight blue and reddish-gold toning over much of the obverse, similar patina confined to the upper border on an otherwise brilliant reverse. Both sides are deeply mirrored in the fields with a more satin texture to the devices, although the cameo finish goes unmentioned on the old style PCGS insert. Conditionally rare Gem quality for this underrated 1870s Proof Liberty Seated quarter issue with a deceptively generous mintage of 960 pieces. Provenance: From the Marc Kravit Collection.
