1865 Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Proof-67 Cameo (NGC). An absolutely stunning coin that radiates handsome teal and russet toning on perfect circles on the obverse and reverse, while the centers display frosty devices that remain generally bright silver. Immense quality for this date, as a mere 500 were coined in Proof, most mishandled or cleaned long ago--finding a pristine example like this piece is a matter of patience and luck. NGC has awarded just two examples of this date with the PR-67 Cameo designation, and none finer. Furthermore, only three Ultra Cameo coins have been certified by NGC, none finer than PR-66. Therefore, the present offering is arguably one of the very Finest 1865 Proof Half Dollars and an exceptionally beautiful coin as well.
